An exhibition exploring how we interact with music
as a central aspect of our humanity
The Columbus Cultural Arts Center (CAC) will host a large juried exhibition of contemporary works by Ohio artists, in a challenge set forth by guest curator, local poet and writer, Steve Abbott. Framed by a nod to synesthesia, SIGHT OF MUSIC”will present visual representations of the aural arts, exploring how we interact with music as a central aspect of our humanity.
These works will examine music's place in everyday, cultural, creative, and imaginative contexts — its major figures and historical evolution; its range of instrumentation; its forms and styles of presentation, as well as the venues in which it is experienced; its well-known compositions and lyrics; its varied moods, tones and modalities; and the multiple ways in which we respond to it.
The exhibition jurors were: Dr. Melanie Corn, Columbus College of Art and Design President, and WOSU FM Classical Music host, Dr. Christopher Purdy. The exhibition is guest curated by Columbus State Community College Distinguished Professor Emeritus and poet Steve Abbott.
The Sight of Music will be on view Sept. 29 through Nov. 4.
